Mark Butterfield, Magnode, a division of Shape Corp.
Mark Butterfield is Vice President, Engineering & Manufacturing, for Magnode Corporation in Trenton, Ohio. Magnode was recently acquired by Shape Corp., a global tier-one automotive supplier focused on lightweight solutions.
Mark has nearly 30 years’ experience in automotive structural and non-structural 6000-series extrusions and their applications. His background includes:

Mr. Butterfield currently manages all corporate engineering, extrusion and fabrication operations for Magnode. He is also quite active within the Aluminum Extruders Council, serving as Chairman‑Extrusion Track within the ET Seminar Committee, and is a member of the Die& Tooling and Industry Promotion Steering Committees, in addition to chairing the AEC’s Automotive Team.
Thomas D. Culp, Ph.D., Birch Point Consulting
Dr. Culp, owner of Birch Point Consulting in La Crosse, Wisconsin has spent 15 years in the glass & window industry in the areas of energy efficient glazing & window performance, low-e glass coatings, & building code development. He's a member of ASHRAE's 90.1 standards committee & NFRC board of directors, & is an active participant in the International Code Council code development hearing process. He currently represents the AEC, Glass Association of North America, & the Glazing Industry Code Committee on energy & green construction codes.
Reginald B. Dean, Global Director of Facade Restoration
Mr. Dean has 33 years of expertise in Architectural Façade & Curtain Wall Restoration. He has a proven record of success through over 1,500 projects in 40 states and 11 countries. He heads up the Façade Restoration Group at Stuart Dean Company, Inc. This group restores architectural metal, curtain walls & building facades. NACE Certified Coating Inspectors help clients evaluate the remaining service life of existing coatings and educate building owners and managers on how to avoid costly mistakes when preserving or enhancing cladded systems with unique clear & colored high performance coating systems.
During the assessment phase of any building envelope Reginald or the Stuart Dean Façade Team Members conducts intensive inspections, creates Condition Surveys and Analysis. In addition he will provide Conceptual Budgets and Planning Reports. He will run through conceptual scenarios that enable the client to consider how the work of the project will relate to the ongoing operation of the building. Consequently, the scope, work sequence and schedule become a functional matrix mindful of the essential need to maintain the day-today activities of the building occupants with minimal discomfort.
Stuart Dean maintains a 10,000 square foot National Training Facility in Cleveland, Ohio, which is consistently utilized by Stuart Dean applicators across the country for training and certification as High-Performance Coating application specialists. Mr. Dean assists in the annual training and education of these technicians. Certifications are granted in conjunction with top coating manufacturers, which enable our technicians to be certified by numerous coating companies. This allows Stuart Dean to offer field-applied coating warranties atypical of the industry standard.
Once work commences, he directs the project management team and technical specialists. His involvement includes leading the preparation and scheduling efforts. Reginald is in business to help those who are serious about giving their building a new look and extended service life. He will assure that his team will demonstrate their professional expertise. His goal is to meet the client’s needs and exceed their expectations with each project he undertakes.
Richard Dickson, Hydro Aluminum
Richard has been in the extrusion business for over 30 years, approximately 11 years with Alcan and 19 years with Hydro Aluminum. Three years ago he took up the post of Director of Customer Technical Support for Hydro Aluminum Metal Markets, North America, after serving as Director of the Hydro Aluminum North American Technical center for seven years. He has been an active member of the AEC Die Committee and serves on several Aluminium Association and ASTM technical committees.
Richard is the editor and coauthor of Hydro’s die design and manufacturing manuals. As leader of Hydro Aluminum’s International Die Team, for many years, he drove the effort to create and/or refine ever-more productive die designs. Richard’s passion remains advancing extrusion beyond its current limits through understanding and education.
Doug Dietrich, Tubelite
Doug Dietrich AIA, CSI, CDT - is an Architectural Representative for Tubelite Inc., a leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum storefront, entrances, curtainwall, ribbon window and daylighting systems. He is an architect with more than thirty years of architectural, engineering, construction, manufacturing, marketing, and sales experience. He is the Vice President of Industry on the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Central IA Board of Directors and serves on Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Architectural Practice Committee.
Jerome Fourmann, Rio Tinto
Jerome Fourmann serves as Technical Director, Global Customer Support and Product Development for the aluminum metal group of Rio Tinto. Since joining Rio Tinto in 2000, Jerome has utilized his technical expertise to support customers and the market development of value added product in extrusion and foundry products. He holds a MS degree in Metallurgy and serves on committees at The Aluminum Association, ASTM and AEC; he is based in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition of being a frequent presenter at industry conferences, Jerome has authored several papers and is a contributing editor for the magazine Light Metal Age.
Jeff Henderson, Aluminum Extruders Council, TSO
Jeff Henderson is President of the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC). In addition to managing the overall activities at AEC, Mr. Henderson is responsible for directing and managing the Fair Trade Committee, which is the U.S. aluminum extrusion industry’s team that successfully petitioned the U.S. government for free and fair trade action against China in 2011. He also manages the AEC’s Industry Promotion effort that has resulted in thousands of inquiries each year to aec.org.
Mr. Henderson is also the owner and president of The Sanford Organization (TSO), which is an association management company that runs non-profit organizations. In addition to the AEC, TSO manages the Aluminum Anodizers Council, the National Plasterers Council, and several other trade associations.
Greg Lea, Hydro Aluminum
Greg Lea is an Aluminum Industry veteran with over 22 years of experience working with aluminum casting and extrusion. He is currently a Regional Sales and Technical Manager for Hydro Aluminum. Greg has a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri S&T) and a MS in Materials Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Greg has been the shepherd for ASTM B221 and B221M since 2000.
Christopher C. Incorvaia, Stuart Dean
Mr. Incorvaia has over 10 years of expertise in Architectural Façade & Curtain Wall Restoration. He has successfully managed through to completion over three hundred high performance coating projects. Chris is responsible for the promotion, sales and development of national and international façade substrate restoration services to new and existing clients. He is a subject expert in façade restoration, preinstallation finishes, and High Performance Coatings. His primary mission is to develop building envelope solutions in order to: Improve/Enhance asset’s value and appearance & Protect/Preserve restored façade surfaces and extend their service life.
During the planning phase of any building envelope Chris conducts inspections and reviews Condition Surveys and Analysis. As well he will develop a detailed schedule which illustrates the stages in which the project will be complete. This tool allows for all parties to stay updated with progress reports that depict the development of the project. In addition, a site specific quality and safety assurance program is constructed. Finally, processes and procedures are generated and installed into the site project plans.

Pawel Kazanowski, Ph.D., Hydro Precision Tubing
Pawel Kazanowski is the Senior Research Scientist at Hydro Precision Tubing Technology Center with responsibility for providing Hydro Precision Tubing plants with technical support and expertise on extrusion process development and improvement, and work on new products and process to strengthen Hydro's position as a leading global aluminum supplier and one of the world’s top integrated aluminum companies. He also serves as the AEC Die Committee Chairman.
Prior to joining Hydro Precision Tubing (formerly SAPA), Pawel Kazanowski worked in research and development positions and as a die and extrusion process technologist at several companies, including Hydro Aluminum Cedar Tools and Kaiser Aluminum. Notable is his three years as a Visiting Scientist and Post Doctoral Research Associate for Institute for Metal Forming at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
Pawel Kazanowski background includes a Doctorate in Metallurgy combined with several years of academic research and development backed by a large portfolio of technical publications and presentations as well as awards. He is a recognized leader in the use of complimentary physical and numerical modeling techniques to accurately simulate material flow during bulk metal deformation.
J. Randolph Kissell, P.E.
Randy Kissell co-founded the TGB Partnership, an engineering firm specializing in aluminum structures, in 1993. He has been involved in the design, fabrication, erection, and inspection of aluminum structures since 1978, including 12 years as the engineering manager of Conservatek, an aluminum space frame manufacturer and erector.
Randy co-authored Aluminum Structures - A Guide to Their Specifications and Design, published by John Wiley and now in its 2nd edition, and co-holds numerous US patents for aluminum structures. Structures he has designed have been featured in Civil Engineering, Engineering News-Record, and at the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Structures Congresses, and Randy consulted in the renovation of the aluminum conservatory for the US Botanic Garden in Washington. He has conducted ASCE’s Designing Aluminum Structures seminar since 2002, and the Welding Aluminum for Engineers seminar for the American Welding Society. Randy was featured on the cover of Structural Engineer magazine in August, 2013.
Randy has been registered as a professional engineer in over 20 states, including those with special requirements such as California and Alaska and has been licensed as a general contractor in California and Florida.
Mr. Kissell is the secretary of the Engineering and Design Task Force of the Aluminum Association, responsible for the Specification for Aluminum Structures, used throughout the US for aluminum structural design. He is also secretary and vice-chair of the American Welding Society’s Subcommittee on Aluminum Structures and a member of the ASTM Light Metal Alloys committee, and the Canadian Standards Association’s committee on Strength Design in Aluminum.
Scott R. Kelley, Service Center Metals
R. Scott Kelley is President and Chief Executive Officer of Service Center Metals based in Prince George, Virginia. Mr. Kelley has more than 32 years of sales and operations experience in the aluminum industry.
Prior to founding Service Center Metals in 2001, Mr. Kelley was National Sales Manager for Kaiser Aluminum in charge of distribution marketing and sales activities.
Before that, he served as the National Distribution Market Manager for Reynolds Metals Company responsible for marketing, sales and strategic planning.
Mr. Kelley has a Bachelor of Science, Business Management degree from Virginia Tech University. He is a Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Roundtable Member and serves as Vice Chairman of the Aluminum Extruders Council Executive Team.
Eric Koger, Bonnell Aluminum
Eric Koger has 16 years’ experience in the aluminum extrusion industry including Casting, Extrusion, Anodizing, Painting and other various fabrication operations. Eric experience includes management of projects, Quality Control, CI and is currently the Finishing Manager at Bonnell Aluminum’s Carthage, Tennessee facility. Eric has an Engineering degree, a LSS Black Belt Certification and was instrumental in developing Bonnell Aluminum’s division Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement programs.
Ben Kuhn, ALMAG Aluminum
Ben Kuhn graduated from McMaster university with bachelor degree in Automotive Engineering and a Technical Business Diploma from Mohawk College. He worked as an Automotive Engineer for 2.5 years designing advanced mechanisms. Mr. Kuhn then joined the Almag team, and the aluminum extrusion industry, in June of 2016 as a project manager for Almag Aluminum. His tasks were to use technical thinking and communication skills to help with the successful onboarding and production of high end commodity business. Using his past design experience and his growing knowledge of extrusion, he works with customers and potential customers to proactively develop long term, cost effective solutions. In November of 2017, he was promoted to Territory Sales Manager, where he continues to foster existing customer relationships and seek out partnerships where Almag can provide mutually beneficial products.
Dr. Wojciech Misiolek, Institute for Metal Forming
Dr. Wojciech (Wojtek) Z. Misiolek is Director of the Institute for Metal Forming at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he is the Loewy Professor of Materials Forming and Processing. He conducts research, teaches classes and advises graduate students in the Materials Science and Engineering as well as Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Departments at Lehigh. Dr. Misiolek is a respected expert in the field of aluminum extrusion who works closely with the industry and research centers in the US and abroad. He is the ASM Fellow, class of 2005.
Scott Moffatt, PPG Industries
Scott Moffatt currently holds the position as Architectural Sales Manager, Building Products for the coil, extrusion and wood groups within PPG Industries, a major coatings and glass company. He has 37 years’ experience within PPG’s Industrial organization in various sales, sales management and marketing functions covering multiple technologies and market segments. Mr. Moffatt spent five years living and managing businesses throughout Europe and then held global positions coordinating sales, technical and manufacturing strategies for Europe and Asia. His current position involves getting PPG specified with architectural firms, glazing companies and applicators. Scott represents PPG to all the major associations involved with the metal building industry, including AEC and AAMA among others.
Patrick Muessig, Azon
Patrick Muessig is the vice president of global technical operations for Azon. Mr. Muessig is responsible for ensuring that Azon and its products conform to industry and regulatory standards, while also serving as an advocate for energy-efficient aluminum windows and the pour and debridge thermal barrier method.
In his technical position, Mr. Muessig is an active member of several trade associations and has presented at symposiums throughout the world about energy-saving issues and thermal barrier technology for commercial aluminum fenestration products.
Rob Nelson, ALMAG Aluminum
Rob Nelson is Director of Sales & Marketing for Almag Aluminum of Brampton, Ontario, and an active member of the Aluminum Extruders Council’s Automotive Team. An engineer by training, Rob works with Almag’s automotive customers on applying extrusions in new vehicle designs. He brings a strong materials experience to the task, having spent much of his career working in the automotive market with a leading steel company before joining Almag several years ago. Rob has a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from McMaster University and a degree in mechanical engineering from Fanshawe College.
Linda Newman, Houghton Metal Finishing Company
Linda Newman is the Technical Manager for Houghton Metal Finishing Company. She has over 17 years in the industry. Her knowledge comes from a BS in Chemistry from Georgia Southwestern State University as well as years of extensive traveling to both domestic and international anodizing plants.
Jason Pickering, Bonnell Aluminum
Jason joined Bonnell Aluminium in 2017 as the Vice President of Operations. Reporting directly to the
Division President, he is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for five manufacturing
centers. His responsibilities include building a strong culture of continuous improvement, overseeing
operations, and driving collaboration to enable the strategic growth of the business.
Prior to joining Bonnell, Jason held various roles in operations, program management and engineering
with BASF, Eaton Corporation, Pratt & Whitney and Robert Bosch Corporation. He served 8 years in the
US Army Reserve and worked with Toyota Motor Manufacturing while pursuing his undergraduate
Jason holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, a master
degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a master degree in business
administration from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business.
Shayne Seever, Sierra Aluminum
Shayne Seever is VP of Administration for Sierra Aluminum, a full service manufacturer of standard and custom aluminum extrusions located in Riverside, California. He earned a B.S. in Physics with a minor in Engineering Studies from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the Drucker School of Management at the Claremont Graduate University.
Shayne started working in the aluminum extrusion industry when he was 21 year old and has been in it for 19 years. His background has allowed him to evolve into and out of a number of positions within Sierra, depending on what was needed by the company at the time. Over the years he has been involved with building construction and process line installations and upgrades (casting, extrusion, anodizing, and paint), equipment specification, P&L responsibility for the paint and anodizing departments along with oversight of approximately 100 employees, and was a fiduciary for the Sierra Employee Stock Ownership Trust (the legal entity which owns Sierra). His vast experience has allowed Shayne the freedom to be involved in many parts of the business.
Shane Tredup is the Vice President of Operations at Custom Aluminum Products, a leader in the aluminum extrusion industry with in-house processes including extrusion, fabrication, finishing, and assembling of aluminum extrusions for a wide variety of industries. Shane began his career at Custom Aluminum working part-time in high school as a draftsman and graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Manufacturing Systems. While working as Engineering Manager he received his MBA in Business Administration from Aurora University. With a passion for education in the workplace, Shane has been instrumental in the development of the company’s education program named “Custom University” in partnership with state colleges and high schools. This program has become an educational model and led to a statewide award.
