AEC will be exhibiting at WCX, April 10-12 in Detroit. Among AEC’s missions is the promotion of the extrusion process and the effective application of extruded aluminum components to key markets, such as automotive. With the on-going demand for more energy efficient vehicles, per-vehicle extrusion use has increased by 60% in the past 5 years, with further strong growth projected.
Technical experts from AEC’s Automotive Team - member extruders and metal suppliers - will be on hand at WCX to provide guidance on how the extrusion design considerations of alloy selection, part geometry, microstructure and component fabrication can be most effectively utilized to create extrusion- based components which reduce mass, simplify vehicle assembly and yield cost neutrality or savings. In addition, the Council will be displaying a novel, full-size multi-material chassis prototype.
