Wednesday, May 15, 2019
The Aluminum Extruders Council is sad to report the passing of Bill Aronson of Metal Exchange Corporation. Mike Lefton, Chairman & CEO of the company, announced the news in a letter to company employees:
"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Bill Aronson. Bill began his career in the aluminum industry with Alcoa and then Consolidated Aluminum, joining the Metal Exchange family in 1983 as President of Pennex Aluminum Company. Bill would eventually take on responsibility for Continental Aluminum in addition to Pennex. In 1989, Bill was asked to come to St. Louis as the President of Metal Exchange Corporation with responsibility for Trading and Manufacturing. Bill continued in a leadership and advisory role until his retirement in 2016 as Vice Chairman.
Bill had a great head for numbers, remarkable energy and was driven to succeed. Much of the success of Metal Exchange Corporation can be directly attributed to Bill Aronson. He was active in the Aluminum Association and The Aluminum Extruders Council, garnering great respect from industry leaders. Bill will also be remembered for his sense of humor. Bill was a teacher, mentor, family man and friend. Bill was 73. He will be deeply missed.
Please keep Bill’s wife Lonnie, daughter Michelle, son Ben (Karen) and grandchildren Hayden, Logan and Macey in your thoughts and prayers."
