Metal Exchange Corporation awarded Best Fleet Awards.

Metal Exchange Corporation (MEC) has been awarded the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) Best Fleet Award, Medium Class 1,000,0015,000,000 Miles. MEC’s Fleet has also been awarded first place in the Small Mixed Fleet by the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) for the second year in a row.

The annual ISRI Transportation Safety Awards reflect the value and importance that the industry places on vehicle safety, by recognizing the top performers in the field, both at the company and individual levels. The awards are presented annually during ISRI’s Annual Convention and Exposition. Best Fleet Awards are presented to the ISRI member with both the lowest vehicle accident rate and the lowest Department of Transportation severity rate for the calendar year in each of four classes, determined by size.

MEC’s Fleet has been recognized by NPTC four separate times as the number one Small Mixed Fleet in the last decade. The Fleet Safety Awards recognize private fleets who continue to elevate safety performance. The Fleet of the Year Awards recognize companies with the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year.

Metal Exchange Corporation places safety as their number one priority and the awards they have been receiving reflect that. Professional drivers in the scrap metal industry face many on-the-job hazards and accident prevention is an essential part of their everyday job. While the risks they face are constantly changing, MEC’s Fleet strives to remain accident and injury free.

Brent Pitzer, Fleet Manager and Logistics Operation Manager at MEC commented on the award by saying, “I am most proud of the fact that we have been injury-free for over three-and-a-half years. The MEC Fleet continues to be an industry leader in safety, especially within the scrap industry, and is known as one of the safest scrap hauling private fleets in the U.S.”
