On August 6, President Trump announced he was reimposing 10% aluminum tariffs on some aluminum imports from Canada during a speech Thursday at a Whirlpool factory in Ohio. Watch the video here.

The Proclamation, signed by the President, reimposes the 10% 232 tariffs on unalloyed, unwrought aluminum imports from Canada according to Bloomberg News.

"Adjusting Imports of Aluminum Into the United States" Proclamation has been posted on our website and can be read here.

AEC President Jeff Henderson commented, “Once again the Trump Administration has missed the mark in protecting the U.S. aluminum industry. With the entire domestic aluminum industry demanding that China’s unrelenting overproduction of aluminum products come to an end, the Administration fires its guns at Canada, one of our critical aluminum trading partners. The only impact from this measure will be increased U.S. aluminum prices, which will only make our manufacturing sector less competitive globally.”
